Rekonstruct said, "Somehow this changes everything, or at least gives us the opportunity for change." I agree. I've been thinking about this for the last few surreal days. Obama's presidency doesn't mean that racial injustice no longer exists in our country, but it is a giant leap forward. How many inner-city children, when asked what they wanted to be when they grow up, would say an athlete of some sort? Now when these same children see opportunities for people with dark skin in the media, they will see the President of the United States. He said as much in his acceptance speech. Obama is also a healing presence internationally. People around the world see the best of America in Obama. We have been given the gift of hope, and that is an excellent position to be in when we now begin to map our way out of war and recession. Yes, as Rekonstruct stated; hope changes everything!

Today feels like Christmas. For the first time in over 8 years I'm proud of my country.
